September 2014
What an awesome Summer! As usual, it flew by waaaaay too quickly. There's never enough time for swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, camping, and sleeping under the stars. If I didn't love MI so much, I might move somewhere that I could do those things all the time. But the truth is I love my home, my family and my friends too much to leave. Even though I consider Summer to be the "busy season" I have no plans of slowing down over the next month or two. Clouds and I are taking a road trip to the U.P. in a few weeks and will be doing some of the aforementioned activities as our last gasp of Summer slides away. We'll also be playing some shows, of course, and will be finishing our trip at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering in Lake City, MI on Sept 19,20 and 21. ArtPrize starts a few days after that and I have a new song and video entitled "Bus Life" entered into the contest. I'm really gonna push hard during ArtPrize so don't be surprised if you see me on street corner with my guitar. I'll be everywhere. The winning song gets $1000 cash and studio time and I could definitely use both. You can help me out by registering with ArtPrize and voting for my song. More info on that coming later. Watch my Facebook page for daily updates. Speaking of Facebook, Nicholas James and the Bandwagon have a Facebook page too. Click here and "like" us. Thanks!
BIG NEWS: Long Story Short EP to be released on Oct 4, 2014 at Founders Brewing Co. Yup. My new solo ep is finally coming out. This is a project 2 years in the making. After a failed studio attempt in the Winter of 2012, Clouds and I decided to take another 6 months to practice and sharpen up these songs. We then called Justin VanHaven who brought his studio to my house to record my Grandmothers piano. We finished up the rest of the recording over the Winter at his studio and added some cello on a few songs with the help of our friend Russell Gorton. The end result is a beautifully stripped down 22 minute journey through the confusion and heartbreak of lost love and the redemption of healing that only comes with time. It's a long story, but it's a short ep.
