September 2014

What an awesome Summer!  As usual, it flew by waaaaay too quickly.  There's never enough time for swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, camping, and sleeping under the stars.  If I didn't love MI so much, I might move somewhere that I could do those things all the time.  But the truth is I love my home, my family and my friends too much to leave.  Even though I consider Summer to be the "busy season" I have no plans of slowing down over the next month or two.  Clouds and I are taking a…

Hey Now! I'm an All-Star / June 2014

Did you dream about being a rock star when you were a kid? I did.

June 2014

I know you all know me as a mild mannered folk singer, but I'm also a rocker at heart.  I think it's about time I shed some light on another project I'm involved in.  As most of you know I work part time at Founders Brewing Co where I also host the Open Mic Night.  Founders is an awesome place to work.  One of many, many cool things about Founders is the FBC All-Stars.  The FBC All-Stars are a band made up of all Founders…

April 2014

I had an amazing experience last month.  I was asked to sing the National Anthem for the Special Olympics of MI for the basketball skills challenge and finals.  I was happy to accept because I've never been asked to sing the NA before and I've always wanted to.  It's been on my bucket list.  Well, I sure am glad I did that.  The energy of the room was phenomenal.  Those kids we're so inspiring.  It was an honor to be a part of it and I think I did a pretty nice job.

I also visited my Grandma…

Ready for the thaw | March 2014 Newsletter

March 2014

A lot of people have been asking me lately if I've been keeping busy this Winter.  Yes.  Yes I have.  Usually, that means I've been traveling, touring, and playing shows all over the place, but not this Winter.  I've been a lot more of a homebody this Winter.  In fact, at the beginning of the season I had some anxiety about the lack of shows I had scheduled.  Now I'm glad I didn't have more gigs.  It's been a brutal Winter.  I'm ready for the thaw.  I'm glad I didn't have to cancel any shows, or…

February 2014

Here in MI, folks sure do love to talk about the weather.  It's too hot in the Summer.  It's too cold in the Winter.  It's snowing!  It's raining.  It's windy.  These are all common phrases, heard at various times of the year.  But truthfully, the one phrase I hear more than anything else in regard to the weather is - it's so beautiful.  Even in the Winter.  Especially in the Summer.  MI is known for its natural beauty and in every phase of its seasons - it is beautiful.  As you can see from…

Happy New Year!

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  I know I did.  And now, here we are - it's 2014.  Wow.  So what's happening in 2014?  Good question. First, a quick recap of 2013.  I played over 50 gigs, hosted another 50 or so Open Mic nights and was busking like crazy at ArtPrize this year for a total of more than 130 performances.  I sang songs in 3 different states and in 23 different cities.  I moved the Xmas show to the Mitten Brewing Co where we were able to…

Dec 2013 Happy Holidays! Twas the night before Xmas and all through the town Everybody was scrambling and running around I need a ball for danny and suzy a dress I'll go to the mall - they'll have them I guess The parking lot was full, no empty carts were in sight The hallways were so crowded it gave Mommy a fright "I found a glove, and a hat- it'll have to do For the boy with the bat and the girl with red shoes" And on Christmas morning the children come down And open their gifts with terrible frowns…Read more
